18 Revlon Lip Butters Sweet Tart: Review & Swatches

18:13

So I finally caved in and bought one of the Revlon mip butters to try. I've been trying to get hold of these ever since they made a whopping bang on the blogsphere and every blogger was talking about them. When they finally arrived to little Britain they were selling out like hot cakes!

I gave up all hope of ever being able to obtain one until finally superdrug had restocked on them. I bought Sweet Tart as I thought the colour is lovely and a day to day lip colour.

The lipstick has a little bit f a sweet scent however, it is not over powering at all; Its a faint smell. The texture of these is literally like butter! They feel creamy on the lips and I find to be just as moisturising as vaseline lip balms!

So it appears Revlon lip butters are really worth the hype! The pigmentation is pretty good, I cannot comment on other colours but Sweet Tart leaves a good amount of colour for a product which is essentially a lip balm and not a lipstick.

The colour is a definate barbie-pink and leaves a bit of a glossy shine

I will definitely be buying more of these! they are great to carry around in your bag, they are nourishing and give you that little pop of colour at times where you don't want to wear a lipstick.

6 MAC Reel Sexy Watch Me Simmer lipstick: Review & Swatches

15:30

Watch Me Simmer is a repromoted lipstick which originally came out in the Mac Shop/Cook collection. This was the one lipstick I wanted from that collection and guess what? It sold out that fast I didn't have time to get my coral loving mitts on it!

The lipstick is the amplified finish, which is my second favourite lipstick finish by MAC, the colour is so pigmented and one swipe of the lipstick is opaque! I also find amplified to be a quite long wearing formula aswell.

The colour is beautiful, it is a definiate coral. MAC Force of Love is definitely more pink and not as bright. Whereas Watch Me Simmer is more orange and not as bright as MAC Viva Glam Nicki.

I love this colour, amplified is a great formula and the colour is beautiful. I think it has overtaken Vegas Volt as my summer favourite. BUT ITS FLIPPING LIMITED EDITION! grrr!

1 Nars Isolde eyeshadow duo: Review & Swatches

15:15

This has become my favourite eyeshadow combination of the moment! I had to buy this after Zoella was talking about how she wears this duo a lot.

I love Nars packaging, it's so sleek. It's a pain to clean though!

Isolde is a gorgeous colour duo, the first colour is a pale goldy colour and the second is a darker bronzier/coppery colour. These colours have orange undertones and therefore looking at the colour wheel are likely to make blue eyes 'POP'. As I have blue eyes I thought this duo would be perfect for me.

As soon as I opened this eyeshadow I thought there may be something wrong with my shadow it has a very alcoholy smell, which put me off using it. I've only ever owned Nars blushes and lipsticks and have never experienced the products smelling that potent. the smell isn't noticeable once the shadows are applied.

However, when I did try the clolours they did compliment eachother beautifully! The texture was smooth making them easy to work with. I rarely use a primer with eyeshadows as I never experience creasing but I did experience a small amount of creasing with these shadows which was eliminated when I started using a primer with them.

The duo is great as I can put it in my make up bag and know thats all I need. They look great on their own, I've been wearing the pale colour on the lid and the darker colour in the crease. I apply a highlight in the brow bone and inner corner and that sets the look completely.

I'd really recommend this duo, even if you don't have blue eyes (but it does really compliment blue eyes beautifully) the shadows apply really well and easyand they can be used for both a day time or a night time look.

I'm now on the hunt for other Nars duos! Can you recommend any?

4 MAC Love Thing mineralize blush: Review & Swatches

18:13

So recently I picked up another bargain on Buyapowa. I picked up this MAC mineralize blush for £9.50 with a £1.50 P&P which is an £8 saving!
I've never discussed buyapowa on my blog before probably because I presume everyone knows what buyapowa is on the blogsphere! However, for anyone who doesn't buyapowa is like 'price-drop TV' online, so the more people who join a co-buy the cheaper everyone receives the product for. I constantly browse the site as you often get great bargains on beauty items.

MAC Love Thing is a gorgeous rosy/plummy colour which will be great in winter or applied really lightly for a natural flush to the cheeks. There is only one down side to this product and that is the amount of shimmer in it! In day-light the shimmer is strictly gold however, under artificial lighting close up the glitter within the product is indeed multi-coloured there is flecks of green, pink and gold.

Unluckily I am one of the girls who aren't a huge fan of glitter even though this is a very pretty colour! It is a highly pigmented blush and really needs to be applied lightly in order to prevent having clown cheeks (which is the disaster I went through the first time i applied this) You need the smallest amount on your brush.

I find MACs mineralized products are a lot dryer than the average powder products creating a slightly chalkier texture. However, it doesn't appear to look chalky on the skin and is very long wearing. I wore this for 10 hours with little fading or wear to the blush.

Overall, this is a great blush however, I don't think I would have paid full price for it. The colour is beautiful for winter and I see because of the pigmentation the blush is going to last me forever. The only down side is the amount of glitter/shimmer in the blush.

3 Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipstick in 44 Sari D'Eau: Review & Swatches

11:37

In search of the Chanel summer collection (which is not released in the UK yet) I came across this lovely little lipstick!
I heard the Rouge Coco Shine lipstick are similar to that of the YSL Sheer Volupte Candy lipsticks which I love!

The colour I got is Sari D'Eau which is a lovely tangerine orange with gold shimmers, I've really been into orange recently in hope of sunny weather in rainy Britain! I love Chanel packaging, it's so luxurious and I love carrying high end lipsticks around with me!

(Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Sari D'Eau swatched heavily and then swatched with one swipe)
As you can see with one swipe the colour is quite sheer and very wearable for every day. However, I was suprised at how buildable the colour is.

(MAC lipstick in Vegas Volt, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Sari D'Eau)
As you can see the colours are a bit similar however, Vegas Volt is definitely more of a corally/pink tone. Vegas Volt also does not have any shimmer and is a lot more opaque.

The texture of the lipstick is soft and a tad moisturising. As the lipstick wears it leaves a stain on the lips which I love.

Have you tried any of the Rouge Coco Shines? Which colours are your favourites?

3 MAC Chen Man: Force of Love lipstick Review & Swatches

21:03

Sorry about the late review, I got this lipstick back in Feburary when the Chen Man collection first came out and I believe this was the most popular lipstick of the collection.

Does it annoy anyone else when MAC do a really pretty outer packaging (which gets thrown in the bin) yet has the same packaging on the lipstick tube?!

The lipstick is a matte finish however, if you see the swatches below I beg to differ! This is great as I often find matte lipsticks to be drying however, this was a lot creamier in texture and didn't dry the lips out as much. I'd definitely recommend moisturising lips before applying this lipstick.

The colour is amazing, it's a bright pink with a tinge of coral to the colour. This colour would suit a lot of skin tones. I don't want to go on too much about this lipstick as it is limited edition and probably very hard to get hold of. I hope MAC repromote this colour at some point in the near future.

0 Real techniques core face brush set: Review

20:11

So these brushes have been causing a stir amongst the blogsphere so I needed to get my mitts on them. Every review I read was a glowing report on how magnificent these brushes are. So I thought Are these brushes REALLY worth the hype?

I bought the core face brush set which comes with

  • A blending brush
  • A detailer brush
  • A pointed foundation brush
  • A contour brush
  • All packaging in this very hady brush case/stand!

The stand is really handy and I like how small/compact it is. Recently I've been putting my everyday brushes in it and putting it in my bag as I do with my make up bag.

This is my favourite brush of the set and it is the blending brush. It is sent from heaven, I need to go and thank Samantha Chapman personally as this has cut my make up routine down by about 10minutes! Foundation applies like a dream with this brush no streaks, no un-eveness and in no time! I can literally do my foundation in 2 minutes with this and it applies so flawlessly. I need another one :)

(This is how dense the blending brush is)

I wasn't sure as to what I could use the detailer brush for. So I thought I'd use it to apply my concealer. How small the end is makes sure it only gets product on any blemishes and it gets in the corners of the undereyes. I then use my finger to blend the concealer out.

I'm not a huge fan of these flat shaped foundation brushes, I find they generally apply foundation unevenly creating streaks (I probably just don't know how to use them properly). However, I cannot comment on this brush yet as I haven't tried it (due to how amazing the blending brush is for applying foundation). I think due to the pointed end this will be good at getting into the smaller areas of the face i.e. around the nose.

The contour brush is amazing to, it's domed so it fits well into the hollows of the cheeks in order to achieve that perfectly slim face! I'm a big fan of contour due to my chubby baby face and this brush is an excellent replacement to my now very old benefit powder brush!

Overall, I am really impressed with this set and for £21.99 it was a bargain! I think I need to get the eye brush set if it is of the same quality of this set.
Have any of you tried the eye brush set?
